John Gray continued his climb to the top of the sprint car world in 2004. Gray earned five victories and a driving championship at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA, on his way to his best season to date. This year he plans on stepping up the ante and chasing the dream of being crowned the King of California! The Maxim Chassis – RPM Racing Engines – Jessee Heating and Air - Gray Motorsports #71 will continue to be the back-bone for John’s journey to the promise land that will hopefully send him places he had never dreamed of going. In 2005, Gray will be a full time traveler with the Golden State Challenge Series, King of California 410 winged sprint car series. This is something he has never tried to do before. But if last season is any indication of things to come this year, John Gray is ready for the challenge.

John started racing Outlaw go-karts at the age of 13 in the 125cc division. He was intrigued by racing at an early age because of the competitiveness of the sport. Once he earned enough seat time in an Outlaw go-kart is was time to step up to the big-time. His father purchased a J&J Chassis - Bailey Brothers powered 360 sprint car and in 1999 they went racing. That year he earned Rookie of the Year honors at Silver Dollar Speedway. During the next few seasons there Gray was able to continue and grow as a driver and a competitor. He earned the respect of fellow racers with his hard nosed approach at the race track. In 2003, John got his first main event win on August 15. In 2004 things just seemed to continue to click with the addition of crew chief Randy V. Together the two improved to the point that it brought Gray 5 main event wins and the Silver Dollar Speedway track championship.

John defiantly turned some heads in 2004; he was even hired to drive a sprint car in New Zealand where he won a main event against the local drivers.

Gray hopes to have all the pieces put together for the 2005 season. The team has just moved into a new, spacious race shop in Chico. The team plans on running the entire Golden State Chalenge Series, King of California 410 winged sprint car series. Along with the hopes of another Silver Dollar Speedway track championship.
